Novation Circuit Groove Box Sample Import CIRCUIT B&H Photo

The Novation Circuit is an innovative groovebox / synthesizer that can fully work as a standalone instrument, allowing you to quickly make new electronic DJ Controllers music very easily, by combining Nova-heritage synths with expertly sculpted drums. Although it's completely standalone, the USB and MIDI connectivity opens the unit up as a controller and as a sound module in itself (as part of a bigger set-up). The rear panel contains the power switch, PSU socket and USB for connecting to a Mac or PC. There are two mini MIDI sockets, and breakout cables are supplied so you can hook it up to MIDI kit without needing to go via a computer, and there are full size ¼ inch jack sockets for left and right audio outputs. The new standalone groove box has the capability to create tracks in minutes on the go or in the studio: use either of the two Novation polysynths, add drums and even tweak FX on the fly.

Simply drag and drop samples onto Circuit with Sample Import, using the streamlined browser-based Web MIDI workflow, and create your own palette of sounds. Four drum voices each with 64 preset sounds provide plenty of sonic power and versatility to Circuit. The Editor also allows you to access synth parameters on the flyer and customise Circuit's macro control knobs. Remotely switch the sound of either of Circuit's two synths on the fly using MIDI program change messages. So if I'm understanding you both, I can plug a midi cable into the Circuit from the Octatrack. Expect to see a battery charger in the ‘Frequently Bought Together' section on the Circuit's Amazon listing.

We hope this will encourage customers to share patches with other Circuit users (have your customers joined the Circuit Owners Group yet?!). Building on our true Nova heritage, Circuit delivers cutting-edge sound with production-ready monophonic and polyphonic patches and tons of character for easily creating deep bass lines, epic leads and warm pads. If Circuit is a touch shallow on the sound design front, it more than makes up for it with its frankly excellent sequencer. I read a bunch of glowing reviews on Gearslutz and there's some fairly reputable people on their list of users. Circuit contains 32 slots for creating and saving 128 steps of synth and drum patterns.

Circuit ist kompakt und kann mit Batterien betrieben werden, sodass du damit völlig autark Musik machen kannst. The MIDI data in a sequence can also be recorded into a DAW for further manipulation and assignment to a soft synth (or hardware). The Editor gives you access to every synth parameter of Circuit's two powerful polysynths, utilising technology from Isotonik Studios to create a comprehensive synth editor that gives you maximum control over your sound.

Circuit is a standalone, battery-powered box that combines Novation synths with built-in drum sounds. From songwriting point of view (not audio clip launching) Circuit seems to be essentially a standalone Ableton Push that's cheaper than an actual Push. Circuit can solely be used to create music as an entity due to its built-in speaker and battery operation.

The electribes do lack some features (which might be resolved in a future update) that the circuit seem to have nailed - a proper arpeggiator, no voice stealing (from what I can make out of the video) and 128 steps sequences. Switching the active sections of the Circuit will have no impact on the sequence running and everything can be edited and recorded in real time. Two Novation poly-synths and a four-part drum machine, combined with an intuitive grid-based sequencer in a standalone box that will have you making electronic music in minutes.

HOWEVER, standalone versions are available too and these versions are made for Mac and PC. The files are big since they operate independently, but the standalone patch editor doesn't require Live, Max4Live, or Max MSP. Two Line Out's for left and right allow you to plug directly into a sound system, but of course you don't have to, the Circuit features its own built in speaker. Started with synthesizers Novation now offer really innovative products both for amateurs and professionals.
